What are the On-site Suggestions & Rules?

•It is better to show up 10 minutes early when you take your first lesson. If you like to get there much earlier, there are lovely sofas in the hallway, so you can meet and chat with friends there to wait until the dance room is ready.

• No dress code for lessons or parties! Wear what is comfortable for you to move and dance. During parties and festivals, we encourage ladies to wear comfortable dresses or beautiful skirts, but they are unnecessary.

•Bring clean, smooth-sole shoes with you and change into. Dance shoes with smooth bottoms are the best! High heels (or pointed heels/thick heels) shoes aren’t recommended!

•Free, convenient parking in the parking lot, but it is better to park close to the left side main door (The police station is at the right end of the building)!

•No alcoholic beverages and drugs are allowed in the premises and building. Fountain water is available in the hallway.

• Everyone must leave the building by 10:00 pm. The Dance Room will be closed at 9:40 pm on Tuesdays and 9:55 pm on Saturdays.

•We do post pictures and videos of classes or parties on social media outlets. By joining activities at the Ballroom and Latin Dance Club, you give us permission to use your images for marketing and promoting dance classes and events.

• You are encouraged to take photos anytime, and videos during party time on Saturdays 7:50 – 9:50 pm. Please DO NOT take videos during lessons to avoid making other people feel awkward. You can post your photos and videos anywhere you like, but the Studio retains the right to ask you to remove the posts if anything is wrong or/and other students/customers have concerns/complaints about the related posts.

How to Select Right Lessons for Tuesdays and Saturdays?

Question 1: Do I need to sign up first for dance classes?

You do not need to sign up for REGULAR Tuesday and Saturday lessons/parties. Just drop in and pay on-site.

Question 2: I have taken lessons in the past but may have forgotten the steps. What is the best choice for me?

Best choice: Join Tuesday lessons and Saturday lessons/parties: Every Tuesday we offer beginners' lessons from 7-8:30 pm. There are fewer people in the classes, so it is easier to get help from the instructor. If you feel comfortable with this beginner's lesson, you may continue to join the second lesson for the social - intermediate level from 8:30 - 9:30 pm. Please visit Tuesday Classes for details!

Every Saturday we offer beginners' lessons 6:50 - 7:50 pm, followed by the 2-hour dance party until 9:50 pm. There are more people on Saturdays than Wednesdays, so the instructor can't take care of every student during lessons, but you can practice a lot after the lesson and enjoy many kinds of dance music while communicating with old/new friends.

Second choice: If you cannot make Tuesdays or Saturdays, or you want to learn faster, you can take some private lessons instead. Please visit Private Lessons for details.

Question 3: I have about one year of dance learning experience. May I join intermediate-level lessons?

It is not important how many years of learning experience you may have or how many dances you have learned. If you have learned this specific dance before (up to the social level), then you can join the second lesson on Tuesdays 8:30 - 9:30 pm for social-intermediate level. even if you only have one month of dance experience. Or you can join the first lesson 7-8:30 pm to learn basic-social level first, then continue to the second lesson for more steps.

Question 4: Do I need to prepay for classes?

You do not have to prepay for Tuesday and Saturday's regular lessons. Just drop in and pay on-site. We also accept prepaying through Venmo or Zelle, if you prefer to purchase Monthly Membership Cards. Please check Prices/Payments page for details.

What can I learn here?

We teach Partner dances which include at least 18 popular dances from the Basic level - Social level - Intermediate Level-Advanced level: Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Night club 2-step, Country 2-step, Hustle, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Bolero, Samba, Polka, etc. We still accept REQUESTS. If you really want to know some special dances, contact us, then we can consider them.

How will I know that I am learning at a good pace?

If you are a dance beginner, just join the first lesson on Tuesday from 7-8:30 pm for basic-social level. If you can follow the instruction and learn 3-5 steps well, you are on an average level.  If you cannot make 3 basic steps, you may consider taking some private lessons to improve your abilities and then rejoin group lessons for further skill development and, of course, to have fun. If you are a dance beginner and can easily practice with others on all taught steps, you are learning at a good and fast pace. You may still consider taking private lessons to further develop your skills more quickly and then show off your skills and enjoy Saturday evening dance parties and have fun!

What are the benefits of joining the Group Classes?

The group dance lesson is a social activity that allows you the opportunity to make new friends, and stay in touch with old ones, all the while learning and further developing your following and leading techniques and overall dance skills. During the lessons, partners are changed regularly*. This is an effective method to help you further grow your dance skills.

Group Lesson Structure and other Information:

  1. you may dance with different partners during class

  2. let the instructor know before the lesson that you choose to dance with your partner only*

  3. group lessons are very affordable

  4. there are several programs available for savings (Click Prices/Payments for details.)

Reminder: Beginners should not join Tuesday 8:30 - 9:30 p.m. class as their first lesson. This is not a beginner-level class. Beginners should take the 7 – 8:30 p.m. lesson first, then progress to the higher-level second lesson at 8:30 (same dance each night). The Saturday evening group lesson from 6:50 – 7:50 p.m. is suitable for beginners too. The Saturday lesson is followed by a two-hour dance party for all skill levels.  Please click Tuesday Classes and Saturday Lesson & Party for details.
